Staff Development

Staff Development

Maryland libraries believe in investing in a strong workforce that is able to meet the needs of customers and communities. The Maryland State Library Agency (MSLA) helps to support libraries and library staff by providing free training provided by professional consultants. The Library Associate Training Institute (LATI), required by Maryland law, is administered by MSLA, and a consultant prepares library workers to provide the very best service for their public library. The LATI program gives library associates the tools to succeed and excel in the library world. Annual Staff Development grants allow library staff throughout the state to participate in a variety of conferences and training with the intent of honing their skills to better serve Maryland public libraries.
